By now Im pretty sure you’ve heard in some form or fashion that the world will end on tomorrow MAy 21st, 2011. At least according to Reverend (use that term loosely) Harold Camping. I will refer to him as Mr. for the duration of the article because he doesn’t deserve the distinction of being called reverend. Based on some wacky formula and might I add a poor use of the scientific method Mr. Camping has come to the conclusion that a major earthquake will occur that will destroy the earth. According to Mr. Camping his proof lies in the scripture of the Holy Bible. Mr. Camping is exhibit A of why so many people distrust preachers, bishops, and other “men of god”. Men like him are the reason why the world is in the state that is today. Mr. Camping is doing the same thing that extremist Islam figures are doing. He is manipulating the “word of God” to promote his own destructive agenda. I am all for freedom of speech but sometimes we have to make exceptions to this especially in Mr. Camping’s case. Yes, we are all responsible for ourselves at the end of the day, however Mr. camping is deliberately trying to cause mass hysteria and unfortunately there are people gullible enough to follow him. My question to you is should men like Mr. Camping be punished for his irresponsible behavior?
